Pashtunkhwa Students Organisation

Pashtunkhwa Students Organisation (P.S.O) is the student/youth wing associated with Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. It has its presence in almost all colleges and universities in Pashtunkhwa.Pashtunkhwa Students organisations aims to create awareness in the students of Pashtunkhwa about Pashtun history, Pashto language, the Pashtun national cause and to convince them to play their part in the national cause. At the same time, P.S.O inspires the students to achieve excellence in academics and tries to solve the everyday issues faced by the students in educational institutions.

P.S.O was founded on December 1, 1967 at Science College Quetta as Pashtun Students organisation. Akhundzada Abdul Razzaq and Noor Muhammad Shadezai were elected the first President and the first Secretary General respectively. Zareef Shaheed, who was martyred by the martial law regime on May 29, 1968 was also among its founding members. The next few years proved very chaotic for the PSO as the National Awami Party went through internal divisions. Most of the PSO extended its support to National Awami party-Pashtunkhwa at the party's foundation meeting in August 1970.PSO was re-organised in 1972 under the leadership of Muhammad Aslam and Jamil Panezai as the President and Secretary General respectively. Pashtun students organisation transformed into Pashtunkhwa students organisation in the 1980s after two more students organisations (Sarhad Students organisation & PSF-Progressive) were merged in P.S.O in Peshawar. The inagural convention of the Pashtunkhwa students organisation was held in Peshawar on 4th & 5th November, 1987. Usman Kakar and Shujaullah Khan were elected as the First Secretary and central secretary respectively.

The P.S.O has played a great role over the decades on students issues as well as in national politics. It has been active and on the forefront of every democratic, anti-Martial law & pro-people movement over the years. It has also been playing a leading role in representing the students and in solving the problems of students in the educational institutions in Pashtunkhwa and all over the country.
